New Year Resolution time!

Happy 2009 everyone! It is weird for me to think that Zachary is old enough to have been around for the entire 2008 year, as he is creeping up to the 2nd birthday (ok, we still have six months).

2008 was a great year just like the years before that. 2009 is in the works to be even better! I can't say there is anything specific planned for 2009 but why not make it a great year.

2009 Goals!
  1. Workout more
  2. Save more money!
  3. Go to more movies
  4. Take Zach outdoors as often as possible
  5. Blog more (you want to remember these days!)
  6. Find a house with a yard
  7. Use the phone more
  8. Make work a happy place

What are your goals this year?

Another question I am asking is should I make my blog public or keep it private? Probably doesn't matter if I don't update the blog butjust saying I do????

D-Fense! D-Fense!

So last night I think I found something good to post. Sadly we are no longer contenders in Fantasy Football or the annual College Football Pick Em'. I will say that us Walker's and McGowan's put up one heck of a fight.

In the College Football Pick em' I was in 1st place for 5 out of 15 weeks. Unfortunately I wasn't in first when it mattered and finished the year in 10th place. My sister had a great run at the end and finished in 5th! Doug wasn't too far behind and ended the year in the top 15.

Then last night was the first week in Fantasy Football Playoffs. Doug was in 2nd place this season going into the semi finals. He was up against the so called "Champions" managed by Trey. The ribbing started earlier in the week with Pam leaving us messages cheering for her husbands team. Doug and Trey were both pumped up for this game. It came down to the wire with the last area of scoring for Doug was with the Giants Defense. Going into the game the score was 96-95 (Champions).

Zach wanted to get in on the action so we took this picture and sent it to those crazed Champions Fans.

Despite our best efforts, can't say that for the Giants, we lost by 1!!!
Y'all better watch out next year. We are ready for our come backs.

Motivation

As you can tell from my lack of posting I am in search of some serious motivation. New Year's Resolutions, wellI can think of one!

Looking for more energy and inspiration to continue blogging.

Halloween

Zach dressed up as a turtle for Halloween this year. We don't typically get very many trick or treaters at our house, in the three years we have lived here we have had ZERO, yet all of the Halloween candy still disapeared!

So despite the lack of neighborhood activity we still took Zach to visit our next door neighbors for a "Trick or Treat" and then headed over to Doug's coworkers house to see the festivities over there.

To our surprise there were thousands of people out in her neighborhood. There were kids, adults, pets, etc. Many of the neighbors had haunted houses, live bands, fire eaters, and lots of great costumes. As Doug was discussing this with his coworker on Monday, she said the cops were called. Doug said yea I thought they would need to come over with all those people and chaos, she replied, oh no, they were there to direct traffic!
It was by far our best Halloween out here!

An October Walk

Zach and I went on a walk today. This wasn't a walk with Zachary in the stroller but one with Zachary doing the walking. We put on a pair of Zach's new shoes and started walking. We walked hand in hand to the neighborhood playground then headed towards the pool area.

As we started back towards the house Zach simply stopped walking, turned towards me, put both hands in air, refusing to take another step on his own, but instead wanted to be carried the rest of the way. This was fine with me. As much as I admire his growing independence and new abilities, I am not ready to give up my little baby boy just yet.

Start! Ventura Heart Walk

Only 18 more days until the big Start! Ventura County Heart Walk!

www.venturaheartwalk.org

I have a ways to go to hit the event goal. Personally I will be happy if we hit $105,000 (an increase over the prior year).

If you are looking for something to do on October 18, please join us!

The Start! Heart Walk is a wonderful way for individuals, friends, families, companies and employees to team up with the American Heart/Stroke Association’s fight against heart disease and stroke.

Join us and 500 of our closest friends as we take our hearts for a 5K walk on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Simi Valley Town Center.

Since 1924 the American Heart Association has helped protect people of all ages and ethnicities from the ravages of heart disease and stroke. These diseases, the Nation's No.1 and No.3 killers, claim more than 910,000 American lives a year. The association invested more than $543 million in fiscal year 2005-06 for research, professional and public education, and advocacy so people across America can live stronger, longer lives.

Thanks to all our walkers, donors and volunteers who have accepted the challenge to help fight heart disease and stroke. We cannot achieve our mission without each one of you!Welcome to the Heart Walk Web site! Thanks for participating and donating online. All the tools you need to join the Heart Walk are right here!
