Zachary's First School Photo

Zachary had his first school pictures taken a few weeks back and even had a class photo taken. For those of you who don't know Zachary goes to Kindercare everyday while Doug and I go to work. We have really enjoyed having him there and the staff that watches him. The rooms are separated by age, so in a few short months Zach will graduate to the toddler room. He is currently in the infant room, then when he turns one and/or walks he will move next door to the toddlers.

In this photo, they are missing a few of his buddies (there are 8 kids in his class) and he is also missing Ms. Sylvia, the newest infant room teacher. Ms. Cheryl (right) and Mrs. Becky (left) are with Zachary everyday and he seems to really enjoy them, The teacher in the middle works with the bigger kids and to be honest I had never even seen her before this photo was shown to me!

Zachary is currently 8 months old (can you believe it?). The other kids in his class are (top left clockwise) Ben (1 year), Ashlyn (4 months), Jacob (4 months), Lily (9 months), ZACHARY *cutest kid in class*, Aurora (8.5 months).

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Zach is part Irish, a little from both sides of the family. Exactly how much we aren't sure, but I come from the McGowan's and Doug is part Cavanaugh. And to further the Irish connection and to the the dismay of Doug, Zachary still has a little red in his hair.

I personally think it is adorable.

Thomas and Mary are still here. Thomas noted that we only had mexican beer in the house, I told him we promised to have a Guiness on Cinco de Mayo!

Nanny and Uncle Thomas are coming!

We are so excited to have visitors this weekend! Doug's mom, Mary and his brother Thomas are coming to town. This is Thomas' first trip to visit us in California. And on that note this is Mary's 10+, not bad for someone who's first trip to California was just a year or so ago! She is now a pro at getting around out here.

The good news for the blog is that we should have some good updates and photos from the weekend. YEA!

Is this a crawl?

I don't know what to call what Zachy now does. I put him down, then I turn around and somehow he isn't quite how I left him. Here is the most recent video of his sly backward movement. If I hadn't actually caught it on video I don't that I would have believed it. It is an up down type of thing then BAM! he is back about 3 feet!

Have I also mentioned that he is a full time sitting baby. For a few weeks now he is officially vertical. Below is proof. He can even catch himself, like,

"Wow, I have figured this whole balance thing out, I don't have to fall backwards every time!"

Updated Ojai 5K Photos

Here are some more photos from Doug and Zachary's 5K run last weekend.

Doug is the fastest man in the.....

• in the city of Ojai,
• Running the Ojai Heart and Sole 5K this morning,
• after the guy who came in first.
  

So with that being said Doug ran a 5K this morning in Ojai, California while pushing Zachary in his jogging stroller. Doug placed 2nd in his age category, can you believe it!

The Ojai Heart and Sole is a 5K and 10K event that benefits the American Heart Association. This event is now my responsibility to implement with a group of local volunteers.


For those of you that have never been to Ojai you are truly missing out. It is a great little artsy town, 25 miles inland from the beach, nestled in the mountains, truly beautiful. And where else can you run a race next to this guy...............
